Where these rights come from

The rights listed in section 6 are the California Consumer Privacy Act's, at Civil Code § 1798.100 and following. That statute fixes when a business must tell you what it collects, gives you a right to delete, and sets the deadline for answering a request. The 30 days stated above is our own — shorter than the statute allows.

• Civil Code § 1798.100 — notice at or before collection. The Act requires a business to inform consumers, at or before the point of collection, of the categories of personal information it collects and the purposes for which they are used. Section 1 above is that notice: identity and contact data, order and delivery data, payment data handled by the processor, and usage data collected by cookies and analytics.
• Civil Code § 1798.105 — the right to delete. A consumer may ask a business to delete personal information it collected from them, subject to the statute's exceptions. The order records retained in section 7 for tax and accounting purposes are one of those exceptions — we say so rather than promise a deletion we are not permitted to perform.
• Civil Code § 1798.130(a)(2) — the answer deadline. The business must disclose and deliver the information, correct it, or delete it, free of charge, within 45 days of a verifiable request, with one further 45-day extension permitted. You are told 30 days in section 6; that is a tighter promise than the statute imposes, and it is the one we intend to keep.
• Why there is no “Do Not Sell” notice on this page. The Act's notice of the right to opt out of sale or sharing attaches to businesses that sell or share personal information. Section 3 states that we do not sell, rent or trade it, so that notice has nothing to attach to — the accurate statement is the one already published.
