What the figures on this page stand on
Every figure in this catalogue is either the manufacturer's own published rating or a target set by a rule you can read. Airflow answers to OSHA's spray-finishing standard, filter capture to the federal surface-coating rule, and the return and warranty wording on each card to the FTC's mail-order and warranty rules. Prices and stock are re-read from the manufacturer's store on the date below.
- OSHA 29 CFR 1910.107(b)(5)(i) — the airflow rule. A spray booth is designed so air moves across the work opening at an average of 100 ft/min, and that is the clause quoted in the spec tables here. The blower wattages and CFM figures on the product cards are the manufacturer's ratings for two separate circuits: the inflation blower array, which holds the enclosure up and does not create directional airflow past the work surface, and the extraction fan, which is the circuit the clause governs. A booth's compliance figure is sized per project rather than read off a card, so the two are never published as one number.
- 40 CFR § 63.11173(e)(2)(i) — the capture rule. For the surface-coating operations the rule covers, the booth exhaust must capture paint overspray with an efficiency of at least 98%, demonstrated against the ANSI/ASHRAE 52.2 test method. Filtration here is sold by part number and media type — fiberglass pre-filter, activated carbon, double-layer pad — and the 98% figure is the rule's target, not a claim that every part number independently tests at that number.
- 16 CFR § 435.2 and 15 U.S.C. § 2303 — the terms on the cards. The published window on an in-stock item is the seller's stated time under the mail-order rule, which also gives the buyer a delay option and a seven-working-day refund clock if that date moves. Every booth carries a 12-month limited warranty; “limited” is a statutory designation under the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act rather than a marketing word, and it means the warranty does not carry the federal minimum standards a “full” warranty would have to meet.
